His father's name was Bhagwati Prasad, and his mother's name was Rampyari. His maternal uncle raised him after both of his parents died when he was eight years old.

After that, he went on to get his high school diploma in Rajasthan. For his intermediate education, he attended Birla College in Pilani. He received his diploma from Kanpur's Sanatan Dharma College in 1939. He attempted to complete a master's degree in English literature at St.John's College, Agra but was unsuccessful. He joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a full-time worker known as Pracharak.

He then rose through the ranks of the RSS, meeting founder KB Hedgewar and undergoing a 40-day camp as well as a second year of teaching in the RSS education division. He was then captivated by the task of spreading Hindutva nationalism across India. As a result of all this progress, he formed the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BCS) party, which later became the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In addition to his organizational skills, he was renowned for his philosophical and literary contributions. He developed the notion of 'Integral Humanism,' which emphasizes a person's holistic intellectual, physical, cognitive, and spiritual development.

He was fairly confident that the west's scientific and cultural practices were not equivalent. He said that western science is worldwide, but India should keep its own customs of life instead of adapting to others' ways.

At the age of 51, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya died. While traveling along MughalSarai in Uttar Pradesh, he was mysteriously discovered dead on February 11th, 1968. Yet, his legacy lives on among the people as we celebrate Antyodaya Diwas.
